Nestled in the scenic landscapes of New Zealand’s North Island, our client is in search of a driven individual with a minimum of three years of experience in the aquaculture industry, particularly in oyster cultivation.

This position beckons ambitious individuals eager to make a meaningful impact on the business. It serves as a stepping stone for career growth, offering the prospect of advancing to a managerial role for those who prove instrumental to the organization. The Assistant Farm Manager will function as the second-in-command (2IC), supporting the Farm Manager in overseeing daily farm operations. Additionally, they will take the lead in the absence of the Farm Manager, enabling them to concentrate on other aspects of the business.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Collaborating with the Farm Manager to plan and execute oyster farming operations
  • Utilizing innovative farming techniques to ensure the well-being and growth of oysters
  • Managing a team of 4-6 crew members, coordinating tasks and ensuring productivity
  • Upholding high-quality standards for oyster processing and grading
  • Communicating with the processing facility regarding oyster delivery and requirements
  • Taking responsibility for the upkeep of a clean and organized farm environment
  • Working in tandem with the Farm Manager to implement strategies for business growth

  • Skipper Competency:
    • Competent Skipper with a valid license or a willingness to undergo training.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Ability to be a key team member, ready to step into the Farm Manager role when necessary.
  • Educational Background:
    • A degree in aquaculture or related fields is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Maintenance Planning:
    • Proficiency in planning and coordinating maintenance tasks in collaboration with the Farm Manager.
  • Environmental Awareness:
    • Sustain knowledge and understanding of tide and weather conditions, crucial for farm operations.
  • Downtime Prevention:
    • Collaborate with the Farm Manager to plan work efficiently, minimizing downtime.
  • Commitment to Sustainability:
