This role within the National Sporting Organization presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of the sport and gain valuable experience in organizing key national championships.

As the leading authority for motorcycle sport in Australia, MA holds recognition from the Australian Sports Commission (SportAus) and is affiliated with the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the global governing body for motorcycle sport.

Being a non-profit organization, MA boasts over 30,000 annual license holders and attracts approximately 250,000 participants annually. Additionally, MA serves as the promoter for major events such as the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK), the Australian Motocross Championship (ProMX), and the Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Events Department, including staff and deliverables.
  • Administer Australian Championships, National events, and international events held in Australia, ensuring successful execution.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Motorcycling Australia’s event-related promoters, clubs, commissions, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the operational aspects of selected Australian Motorcycle Championships promoted by Motorcycling Australia.

Duties of the position:

Australian Championships and National Events

  • Oversee various events, including but not limited to:
    • Australian Superbike Championship
    • Australian Motocross Championship
    • Oceania Junior Cup
    • Australian Off-Road Championship
  • Handle pre and post administration of Motorcycling Australia’s national events.
  • Manage diverse event tasks, such as operations, logistics, travel arrangements, event entries, advertising, promotion, and grant applications.
  • Provide pertinent information and resources to appointed officials, Steward, and Clerk of Course.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and Commissions to develop supplementary regulations and address event-related issues.
  • Coordinate with clubs/promoters of Australian Championships and National events, ensuring awareness of responsibilities and adherence to event sanction agreements.
  • Oversee essential information management, including SR, list of competitors, results, stewards’ reports, and incident and injury reports.
  • Manage permit and insurance requirements for Australian Championships and National Events.
  • Perform other duties as directed and required.

International Events

  • Spearheaded the development of Supplementary Regulations (SR) for World Championship events held in Australia.
  • Actively participate in Race Organising Committee meetings, offering administrative support as needed.
  • Oversee the wildcard application and appointment process, including the management of wildcard recipients throughout the event, covering aspects such as bump-in, credentials, and induction.

MA Administration

  • Develop and maintain the Australian Championships and National events calendar.
  • Ensure accuracy and currency of all event records.
  • Continuously develop and update event processes, agreements, and policies.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the membership database with a focus on events.
  • Supervise event staff reviews and facilitate personal development plans.
  • Receive and process applications/expressions of interest from clubs/promoters for the organization of Australian Championships and National events.
  • Collaborate with the Accounts Department to invoice event permit fees, ensuring payment is received before the event.
  • Coordinate with the Accounts Department to invoice rider levies and follow up on payments.
  • Monitor and track participation in National events.

MA Promoted Australian Championships

  • Handle all communication with competitors, teams, contractors, and partners.
  • Supervise the Volunteer Officials Program.
  • Coordinate all travel arrangements for staff and senior officials, including accommodation, flights, and car hire.
  • Oversee the administration of Sporting Regulations, the yearly calendar, and event schedules.
  • Manage competitor rider numbers, entries, and the distribution of prize money.
  • Collaborate with circuits to finalize track hire, catering, and event-specific details.
  • Take charge of all spectator information, including website updates, ticketing, and off-track activities.
  • Provide support to the Media Manager by assisting with website updates, promotional activities, social media posts, program development, and other related tasks.
  • Arrange for artwork, signage, trophies, and promotional items.
  • Maintain and manage Championship budgets.
