Job Description

The Marina In-charge oversees the daily operations of the marina, prioritizing smooth and secure functionality. Serving as a primary customer contact, this role plays a crucial part in influencing sales and customer satisfaction. Additionally, the In-charge identifies maintenance needs, maintains accurate records of inventories and schedules, and proactively engages with marina members through various communication channels. They actively contribute to setting high standards in marine hospitality, performing both regular and ad hoc operational duties as necessary.

Here’s a breakdown of the key responsibilities and tasks:

  • Efficiently manage all operational staff, organizing shifts, allocating tasks, and supervising work and security.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and execution of routines, systems, and checklists according to company guidelines.
  • Comply with the Health and Safety Policy and maintain good working practices, ensuring adherence to company guidelines and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Maximize marina occupancy and revenue through effective allocation of berths and storage areas.
  • Administer berth records and documentation, including issuing application forms, berthing contracts, and managing bank standing orders.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the marina.
  • Ensure pontoons, quays, equipment, and outdoor facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
  • Manage marina reception and other customer contact points, promptly and comprehensively addressing customer inquiries and needs.
  • Uphold company regulations regarding dress code and behavior, providing personable service to enhance the marina’s reputation.
  • Adhere to company guidelines, procedures, and any assigned duties.
  • Familiarize oneself with the duties of the Marina Manager, potentially acting as an alternate when required.
  • Seek prior permission before engaging in any contracts, agreements, or commitments on behalf of the company.
  • Undertake additional duties as required for the smooth running of the marina, standing in for other staff members when necessary.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, pulling, and pushing, with good eyesight, even in adverse weather conditions.
  • Execute tasks assigned by the Marina Manager or Department Head, ensuring compliance with company policies, rules, and procedures related to Health, Safety, and Environmental Management.

Additionally, candidates are preferred to possess hands-on experience in Marina Operations, ideally supported by an accredited marina management qualification.

Qualifications and skills for the role:

  • Graduate with 5-8 Years of Experience
  • Proficiency in using general office equipment, handling cash, and executing cheque/credit card procedures, including familiarity with end-of-day sales desk routines.
  • Knowledgeable about the marina environment, maintenance, berth arrangement, and vessel handling, with a preference for holding a certificate of competency.
  • Adequate computer literacy to operate a PC-based Marina Management System.
  • Extensive “hands-on” expertise in small craft and marina operations, encompassing boat lifting, handling, towing, and plant and equipment maintenance.
  • Competence in man-management.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, addressing their demands and concerns while employing effective salesmanship skills.
  • Capability to provide personable service to customers, contributing to the enhancement of the marina’s reputation.
  • Numeracy skills and high standards of presentation and accuracy in written work and record-keeping.
  • Proven skills in boat handling, VHF radio operation, first aid, fire-fighting, and boat hoist and crane operation.
  • Proficient swimming skills.
  • Possession of a full driving license.
  • Foreign language skills are considered advantageous by the company.
  • Excellent proficiency in English communication and writing.
  • Ability to work accurately with minimal supervision and deliver results on time.
